Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School Inter-House Sports 2026 Sparks Brilliance, Uncovers Landmark Talents in Akure

Akure stood still on Thursday as Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School Akure hosted its colourful 2026 Inter-House Sports Competition, a celebration of athletic excellence, discipline, and unity that thrilled parents, educators, and sports lovers alike.

At the end of keenly contested events, Orange House emerged overall champions, a remarkable comeback after finishing last in the previous edition. Green House followed in second place, with Red House clinching third. Purple House placed fourth, Yellow House fifth, while Blue House finished sixth.

The invitational relay races added extra sparkle to the fiesta.

In the girls’ relay, St. Michael took third position, Akure Secondary Commercial School Akure came second, while Eji-Oba High School, Oba-Ile stormed home in first place.

For the boys’ relay, St. Michael finished third, Akure High School second, and Eji-Oba High School again claimed the top spot.

Presenting the overall trophy, Chief Dr. Mrs. Kosemani Kolawole urged students to draw inspiration from Orange House’s turnaround story, stressing that hard work, consistency, and teamwork can lift anyone from the bottom to the top.
She challenged the students to apply the same determination in academics and character, noting that excellence is built through discipline.

Speaking at the event, the Principal of Ijo-Mimo Oluwa High School, Mrs. Odumakinde, congratulated Ambassador Omobola Ojoge on the successful hosting of the competition, describing her as a hardworking and visionary administrator whose innovation, by God’s grace, is steadily transforming Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School. She encouraged the students to remain focused and purposeful in pursuit of a greater tomorrow.

Also lending his voice, Hon. Sunday Akinwalere, Principal of Akure Secondary Commercial School, said inter-house sports remain a vital tool for nurturing healthy minds in healthy bodies, adding that discipline and diligence developed through sports are key ingredients for producing tomorrow’s leaders. He commended Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for providing an enabling environment for education and youth development.

Earlier in her welcome address, the host Principal, Amb. Dr. Omobola Ojoge, gave thanks to God for the success of the annual programme, describing it as a rallying point and unifying platform for students, parents, teachers, and alumni.
She appreciated the Ondo State Government, particularly Governor Aiyedatiwa, for supporting initiatives that allow young talents to find expression, adding that with the newly completed sports pavilion in the school, Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School is poised to compete favourably on larger sporting stages.

The principal also expressed heartfelt gratitude to all stakeholders and especially FOGA for their unwavering support, noting that the 2026 Inter-House Sports has further strengthened the school’s commitment to holistic education—where academics meet athletics, and character meets competition.

Indeed, Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School Akure did not just host a sports event; it showcased hope, resilience, and the promise of future champions.
