Trailblazer in Education: Dr. (Mrs.) Fadekemi Jogbodo Receives Ondo State Woman of the Year
First Female ANCOPSS President Bags Distinguished Leadership Award at The Democrat News Magazine’s 7th Anniversary
In a grand celebration of leadership and excellence, Dr. (Mrs.) Fadekemi Jogbodo, the trailblazing first female President of the All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS), Ondo State Chapter, was honoured with the Distinguished Leadership Award and named Ondo State Woman of the Year at the 7th Anniversary of The Democrat News Magazine, held on Sunday, September 7, 2025, at the Multipurpose Hall, First Gate, Ijapo Estate, Akure. This prestigious recognition crowns decades of visionary leadership, relentless dedication, and transformative impact in the education sector.

Born into the respected Adegbola family of Ijero-Ekiti, Dr. Jogbodo has journeyed through the corridors of academia and leadership with distinction. Her early educational path began at A.U.D. Primary School, Ikere-Ekiti, and continued through Ijero High School and Ekiti Parapo College, Ido-Ekiti. She went on to earn her first degree from the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti in 1991. Her academic credentials reflect her unyielding commitment to personal and professional growth, including a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the University of Ado-Ekiti, a Master’s in English Language, and a recently completed Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in English Language from Ekiti State University in 2024.
Since beginning her career in 1992 with the Ondo State Teaching Service Commission, Dr. Jogbodo has served in several renowned institutions, leaving lasting legacies wherever she went. Her appointments include St. Joseph’s College, Ondo; Fiwasaye Girls’ Grammar School, Akure; Comprehensive High School, Alagbaka; Estate High School, Akure; and C.A.C Grammar School, Akure, where she served as Vice Principal. She later rose to become Principal of Ayo Grammar School, Ipogun, and Adegbola Memorial Grammar School, Akure, before assuming her current role as Principal of Ijapo High School, Akure. Her leadership is marked by a blend of discipline, innovation, and compassion—qualities that have transformed not only institutions but the lives of countless students across Ondo State.

In June 2025, Dr. Jogbodo made history as the first female President of ANCOPSS Ondo State, a role she assumed with a vision to foster unity, innovation, and progress within the organization. Her accolades are numerous, including the Outstanding Performance Award from the Ondo State Ministry of Education, the Best Principal Award at Ayo Grammar School, and the Best Principal and Humanitarian Service Award at Adegbola Memorial Grammar School. Her impact goes beyond the walls of classrooms—shaping character, inspiring future leaders, and upholding values of integrity, faith, and service.
A devout Christian and passionate educator, Dr. Jogbodo is known for her humility, strong moral values, and unwavering dedication to service. She is joyfully married to Engr. Olaniran Jogbodo of Itaogbolu, Akure North, and their union is blessed with a beautiful set of triplets.

Other distinguished recipients at the Democrat News Magazine Awards included Hon. Prince Olusegun Omojuwa, Chief of Staff to the Governor, who was named Ondo State Man of the Year; Hon. Barr. Kayode Taiwo Samson, Chairman, Akure East LCDA, honoured for Distinguished Leadership in Local Government Administration; Evang. Oluwasola Ajayi David, MD of Glofes Petroleum, awarded for Distinguished Leadership in Business Management; Prince Matthew Adegoke, CEO of Youth Primer Foundation and President of Legacy Elite Club, recognized as Icon of Humanitarian Services; Hon. (Deacon) Mayokun Akinmoladun, CEO of Platilium TV, named Political Leader of the Year; Hon. Ronke Aramide Akerele, Senior Legislative Aide to the Senate President, honoured as Icon of Noble Impact; Hon. David Ajobiewe, Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization, recognized as Icon of Excellence in Political Service; Hon. Adewale Akinrinlola, Councilor, Alade/Atosin Ward, Idanre LG, named Youth Role Model; and Legacy Elite Club, Akure, led by Prince Matthew Adegoke, awarded as the Most Impactful Club in Ondo State.

The honour bestowed upon Dr. (Mrs.) Fadekemi Jogbodo is a well-deserved tribute to a woman whose life work continues to shape futures, uplift communities, and inspire a generation.
