School Resumption: Ondo Central Tutor-General, Dr. Fadekemi Niran-Jogbodo, Commences Robust Monitoring to Raise Education Standards.
The newly appointed Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of the Ondo Central Senatorial District, Dr. (Mrs.) Fadekemi Niran-Jogbodo, has commenced a robust monitoring exercise across schools in the district as part of deliberate efforts to upscale the standard of education and promote effective teaching and learning in Ondo State.
The monitoring exercise, which commenced on Monday, September 14, 2026, following the resumption of students from the seven-week vacation, saw Dr. Niran-Jogbodo and her team visit schools across Ondo Central Senatorial District to obtain first-hand information about their needs, challenges and areas requiring urgent attention.
The exercise, according to the Tutor-General, is aimed at identifying challenges confronting schools, strengthening academic standards and ensuring that teaching and learning are carried out effectively in line with the OUR EASE Agenda of the Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
At her first point of monitoring, St. Joseph’s College, Ondo, Dr. Niran-Jogbodo was warmly received by the management, teachers and students, with similar reception recorded at the other schools visited. Her warm acceptance further underscored her pedigree and reputation as an experienced education administrator and former President All Nigeria Confederatation of Principals of Secondary Schools (ANCOPSS) in Ondo State.
Speaking on the mission and vision of her office, Dr. Niran-Jogbodo stated that her administration would focus on boosting the quality of education and ensuring that students receive qualitative, inclusive and robust education in all aspects.
She stressed that education must be inclusive and empowering, explaining that the ultimate goal should be to produce graduates who are intellectually equipped, self-reliant and capable of making meaningful contributions to society while being able to fend for themselves.
The Tutor-General also commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for his commitment towards restoring the glory of education in Ondo State, assuring that education stakeholders must reciprocate the government’s efforts by diligently playing their respective roles.
She urged teachers to see their profession as a divine responsibility, charging them to continue giving their best to the development of the younger generation. According to her, the reward for their sacrifices may not always come immediately, but their impact on the lives of the children will remain invaluable.
The principals, teachers and students of the schools visited used the opportunity to congratulate Dr. Niran-Jogbodo on her appointment, describing her as a “round peg in a round hole” and expressing confidence in her capacity to deliver in her new responsibility.
In their separate reactions, the Principals of St. Joseph’s College, Dr. Adekunle; St. Monica Girls Grammar School, Mrs. Kolawole; Ondo Anglican Grammar School, Ms. Lawanson; Ondo Boys High School, Mr. Akintunde Alex; St. Josephine’s Anglican Grammar School, Mrs. S.T. Ajayi; St. Ambrose’s Catholic School, Mrs. Balogun; and Ogooluwa Community Grammar School, Mrs. A.Y. Ogundipe, appreciated the monitoring visit, describing it as a great source of encouragement to the school communities.
They noted that the presence of the Tutor-General at the schools would further motivate principals and teachers to remain committed to their responsibilities and contribute more meaningfully to the development of education and the overall progress of Ondo State.
The school administrators also commended Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for appointing what they described as a woman of virtue, experience and proven leadership capacity. They maintained that Dr. Niran-Jogbodo’s wealth of experience in school administration and ANCOPSS leadership would positively influence the education sector.
They assured the Tutor-General of their readiness to work with her administration and continue to raise the bar of education in the state, promising to put in their best towards producing students who would make Ondo State proud at all levels.
Speaking with The Democrat News Magazine in her office after the monitoring exercise, Dr. Niran-Jogbodo, in her usual articulate and passionate manner, expressed gratitude to God for the opportunity to serve as Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, stressing that her previous experiences as a Principal and President of ANCOPSS had prepared her adequately for the new responsibility.
She explained that her long years of interaction with teachers, colleagues, senior officers and other stakeholders in the education sector had helped her to quickly understand the demands of the office. “I have been interacting with people to acclimatise myself with the system quickly,” she said.
Commenting on the school resumption monitoring, she commended the readiness of teachers and students to return to school after the seven-week holiday, noting that the level of preparedness witnessed during the exercise was encouraging.
Dr. Niran-Jogbodo, however, appealed to community leaders and parents, particularly in rural communities, not to delay the return of their children to school. She urged parents to ensure that their children resume promptly rather than waiting for one or two weeks after the official resumption date.
“Teachers have been doing well, and I want to charge them to keep up the good work. Whatever you are doing is for the future. It is God who will reward you. See these children as your own children,” she stated.
She further encouraged the students to embrace hard work from the beginning of the academic session, stressing the importance of discipline, determination, prayer and consistency in achieving success.
“I have told the children to start early to work hard and pray hard for their success to come with ease,” she added.
The recent monitoring exercise has therefore set the tone for what promises to be a new chapter of purposeful educational administration in Ondo Central Senatorial District, as Dr. Niran-Jogbodo brings her wealth of experience, passion and administrative competence to bear in strengthening schools and improving the quality of education.
