Guber 2024: Hon. Bosun Ogunleye Galvanizes Emeruku, Oni Garri Community for Governor Aiyedatiwa, As Residents Appeal for Road Rehabilitation, Electricity, others
The Emeruku community, comprising about 13 zones in Ward 10 of Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo State, has made a passionate appeal to the Ondo State government, led by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to address some of their basic needs. The community seeks improvements in infrastructure, including road rehabilitation, electricity, healthcare, and market facilities.
The leadership of the community made this known while playing host to Hon. Bosun Ogunleye, the Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Mobilization on Monday 11th f November, 2024.
The appeal was led by Mr. Adeyemi Adetunji, the Central Chairman, along with other community leaders, including Alhaji Omoniyi Lukman (Secretary), Olumide Obatuase (Financial Secretary), Olufemi Owolanke (Treasurer), Olakunle Damola (Youth Leader), and several zonal leaders like Emmanuel Ajayi, Pastor Ifedayo, Tope Famese, and Mr. Ojokolo.
The leaders expressed the community’s desire for a peaceful and supportive relationship with the government, emphasizing that promises made to them need to be fulfilled.
Highlighting some of the pressing needs, the Central Chairman noted that the community’s transformer needs activation to improve power supply, and a lingering land dispute currently at the appellate court requires resolution and a host of others requests.
The Youth Leader, Olakunle Damola, further appealed for additional infrastructure, such as a market and a healthcare center, similar to those provided for other communities like Igoba and Gaga.
Hon. Bosun Ogunleye, addressing the gathering, acknowledged the development gap in Akure, emphasizing that despite being the state capital, Akure has not fully benefited from essential infrastructure projects like other states created the same year, saying that residents should rally behind Governor Aiyedatiwa, with the aim of seeing an Akure indigene come into power after him.
To facilitate some of these developments, Ogunleye urged the community leaders to submit a formal request for road rehabilitation through the Special Adviser on Infrastructure.
He also advised them to reach out to Hon. Sunday Abegunde “ABENA,” Executive Director at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), for solar street lighting that could enhance security and ease movement within the community.
Regarding the health center and market, Ogunleye recommended that the community write to the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Gbenga Fasua, for consideration. He also encouraged the residents to strengthen their local security efforts, including engaging community policing, to protect public facilities, such as the newly established Mega School, which was recently broke into by thieves.
The members of the community promised to cast their votes massively for Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Saturday and that he should not forget them in the community.
