The leadership of Ondo State United Artisans made up of 6 groups namely NATTA, OSATU, Hairdressers Association, Carpenters’ and Furniture Association, Tailors Association of Nigeria (TAN) and OSAG has risen in defence to allegations made against the Senior Special Assistant to Ondo State Governor on Artisan Matters, Comrade Komolafe Daisi by the leadership of Ondo State Artisan Groups (OSAG), one of their member group saying it is baseless as ASNAT is Federal Government’s baby; an umbrella body established with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s backing to make dividends available to artisans across the nation.
This clarification is coming on the heels of reports in certain quarters defaming their leader, Comrade Daisi and accusing him on loan disbursement among others.
According to the statement made public by Pastor Olaniyi Ale, the union leader of Ondo State United Artisans, he affirmed that Comrade Daisi, the Regional Southwest and Ondo State Coordinator ASNAT, is not the brain behind the formation of the group
On the allegations that Comrade Daisi converted OSAG vehicle to his personal property, the leadership said the vehicle has since been released to the leadership of OSAG when well meaning Nigerians stepped into the matter.
They further made clarifications that the vehicle in question is the personal property of Comrade Daisi but in order for peace to reign, he decided to release it for OSAG
Speaking on Micro Credit Loan disbursement, the leaders said loans were given out to individual associations that are verifiable as against allegations in the public domain.
According to them, a total of N24million was released to the leadership of OSAG in 2024 and this recent outcry by their leadership only goes to show that they are unwilling and not ready to repay their debts.
“Comrade Daisi and Mr. Bello are the ones that usually use their properties as collateral for artisans in the state. This recent outcry means they are trying to take attention off the repayment of the loans”.
The leadership however said these issues that are now coming out is as a result of confrontation made against OSAG for practising political harlotry during electioneering season on behalf of United Artisans.
“That’s not all, we confronted them for going behind our back and collecting 70bags of rice from the state government and later going online to display it as unfit for human consumption online with the plan to discredit the present Govenor. We also confronted them for collecting rice and corn as palliatives behind our back. These are the questions we asked that raised the dust”
He said members are already mobilizing one million march in support of their leader as he has not done anything wrong.
