NIEEE Honours Oba Olufaderin Adetimehin with Golden Award for Grassroots Energy Development
In a momentous celebration of leadership and innovation, the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (NIEEE) on Thursday, July 3rd, 2025, bestowed its prestigious Golden Award on His Imperial Majesty, Oba Olufaderin Adetimehin, Jimoko II, the Jegun Olu-Ekun of Ile-Oluji Kingdom. The award recognizes the kingdom’s exceptional, community-led contributions to the Nigerian energy sector.
Under the visionary leadership of Oba Adetimehin, Ile-Oluji Kingdom has spearheaded transformative energy projects — most notably, the acquisition of a 10MVA step-down transformer and the mobilization of over ₦500 million for its installation. This bold, self-driven investment has significantly enhanced the region’s electricity infrastructure and now stands as a sterling example of grassroots energy development.
The award was presented during the Investiture Ceremony of Engr. Adedokun Adeyemi ADEYONU as Chairman of the NIEEE Akure Chapter. Held at the Winners Guest House, Ijapo Estate, Akure, the occasion was a vibrant convergence of tradition, innovation, and professional excellence, drawing distinguished guests from across Nigeria.
Among the prominent attendees were the President of NIEEE, Engr. Felix Olu; the Governor of Ondo State, represented by his Special Adviser on Power, Engr. Johnson Alabi; the Director General of Ondo State Radiovision Corporation, Hon. Kenneth Odusola; the Commandant of Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye; alongside eminent engineers, scholars, captains of industry, and institutional representatives.
