Ifedore LG Empowers Farmers with Fertilisers, 5,000 Cocoa Seedlings as Women Affairs Commissioner Pays Advocacy Visit

The Ifedore Local Government Area on Monday, 17 August 2026, distributed 100 bags of fertiliser and 5,000 hybrid cocoa seedlings to farmers at the Local Government Secretariat in Igbara-Oke. The fertiliser was distributed by the local government while Comrade Rufus Adu Oluwaseun, an All Progressive Congress (APC) chieftain from Ijare Ward 2, provided the seedlings in support of the Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa administration’s “Our Ease” agenda.

Chairman Hon. Dipo Ajibola described the programme as part of his administration’s consistent pro-agriculture interventions, which have included tomato farming support, palm seedlings; bursaries to students, computer training, bridges, culverts and solar street lights, and the recent empowerment of 100 women and youths with ₦100,000 each, alongside monthly ₦20,000 stipends for the aged. He commended Comrade Adu Oluwaseun and assured residents that more agricultural and non-agricultural projects are underway.

Comrade Adu Oluwaseun urged beneficiaries to carefully nurture the hybrid cocoa seedlings for long-term profitability. He said the gesture was his contribution to the Chairman’s developmental efforts and the Governor’s agenda, while also appreciating ongoing road projects such as the Akure-Ijare and Eti-Mariwo roads.

Mrs. Wole Awolere, Head of Local Government Administration, thanked the Chairman for prioritising farmers and advised beneficiaries to use the items productively rather than sell them, especially given current economic challenges.

During the event, the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. Seun Osamaye, paid an advocacy visit on the Nigeria For Women Scale-Up Project, a Federal Government initiative in partnership with the World Bank and state governments. She explained that the programme aims to train and financially empower women across Ifedore to establish sustainable businesses, stressing that it is non-partisan and open to all eligible women.

Hon. Osamaye appealed to the Chairman, traditional rulers and community groups to help identify genuine beneficiaries. The Chairman welcomed the initiative, expressed pride in the Commissioner’s work and fixed a meeting with Ifedore traditional rulers for 2 September to advance the project.

Dignitaries present included the Chairperson, Mrs. Yetunde Ajibola Esq.; Vice Chairman Hon. Abiola Ijimakinwa; Legislative Leader Rt. Hon. Wasiu Oluyi; Secretary to the Local Government Mr. Collins Awoseye Esq.; APC Chairman Prince Tunde Adegbomire; LCDA Chairman, Hon. Richard; councillors, supervisors and other stakeholders.
