Akure East LCDA Chairman, Hon. Barr. Kayode Taiwo Samson LLM, Mourns Illustrious Olisa of Akure Kingdom, Describes His Demise as a Monumental Loss
The Chairman of Akure East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oda, Hon. Barr. Kayode Taiwo Samson, LLM, alongside the management and entire staff of the council, has expressed profound grief and heartfelt condolences to the people of Oke Lisa Community, Lisa Ward 5, Akure East LCDA, the Deji and traditional institution of Akure Kingdom, the Iare Group, and the entire traditional council of Akure South Local Government Area over the passing of the revered Olisa of Akure Kingdom and Traditional Prime Minister, Senior High Chief Sunday Olufemi Olubodun.
In a condolence message made available to journalists on Wednesday 10th of June,2026 in Akure, Hon. Samson described the late Olisa as an exceptional traditional leader, astute politician, and passionate community builder whose life was dedicated to the advancement of Akure Kingdom and the promotion of peace, unity, and development among his people. He noted that the demise of the respected elder statesman has created a vacuum that will be difficult to fill.
The Chairman recalled that the late Senior High Chief Olubodun was not only the Traditional Prime Minister of Akure Kingdom but also a progressive-minded leader whose traditional domain was deeply rooted within Akure East LCDA. According to him, the deceased remained a dependable voice of wisdom and an influential stakeholder whose contributions to the growth and stability of the kingdom will forever be remembered.
Hon. Samson further stated that before his ascension to the prestigious stool of Olisa of Akure Kingdom, the late High Chief was an accomplished politician and one of the leading contenders for the House of Assembly seat in Akure South Constituency I. His political experience, leadership qualities, and unwavering commitment to public service earned him the admiration and respect of people across political and social divides.
The Akure East LCDA Chairman also acknowledged the active role played by the late Olisa during the gubernatorial campaign of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. He noted that the respected traditional leader was always at the forefront of progressive political movements and actively participated in several strategic engagements, including town hall meetings held at Oda and other communities, where he consistently advocated for the welfare and development of the people.
Describing the late traditional ruler as a progressive to the core, Hon. Samson emphasized that his wise counsel, humility, patriotism, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of Akure Kingdom endeared him to both the young and old. He added that the deceased’s remarkable legacy of service, integrity, and dedication to community development would continue to inspire future generations.
While praying for the peaceful repose of the departed elder statesman, Hon. Barr. Kayode Taiwo Samson, LLM, extended his deepest sympathies to the Olubodun family, the people of Oke Lisa, the Akure Traditional Council, and the entire Akure Kingdom.
