Chairman of Akure East LCDA, Barr. Kayode Taiwo Samson, Celebrates Prince Ademola Adegoroye at Birthday, Describes Him as the “Clemens Westerhof of Akure Politics”
Hon. (Barr.) Kayode Taiwo Samson, LL.M., Chairman of Akure East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Oda, has extended warm birthday felicitations to former member of the Ondo State House of Assembly, former Minister of State for Transportation, and respected political leader, Prince Hon. Barr. Sir Ademola Adegoroye, on the occasion of his special birthday.
In a heartfelt congratulatory message, Barr. Samson described Prince Adegoroye as an outstanding statesman, an accomplished grassroots mobiliser, and a visionary leader whose political philosophy has continued to inspire generations of politicians in Ondo State. He noted that the celebrant has remained a symbol of humility, accessibility, and unwavering commitment to the people throughout his political journey.
Recalling their long-standing relationship, the Akure East LCDA Chairman said his admiration for Prince Adegoroye dates back to 1996, during the military era, when the latter visited his Elemuletu family house to seek support for his ambition to represent Akure Constituency I in the House of Assembly. According to him, that singular encounter revealed Adegoroye’s sincerity, courage, and uncommon passion for grassroots politics.
Barr. Samson further stated that over the years, Prince Adegoroye has consistently demonstrated a highly cerebral and cosmopolitan approach to politics, adding that his greatest strength lies in maintaining close contact with the people at the grassroots. He remarked that this enduring relationship with his constituents has ensured his continued relevance in the political landscape, whether occupying public office or serving outside government.
Drawing a powerful comparison, Barr. Samson likened Prince Adegoroye’s political accomplishments to those of the renowned Dutch football coach, Clemens Westerhof, who transformed Nigeria’s national football team into one of Africa’s most formidable sides between 1989 and 1994. He said just as Westerhof nurtured legends such as Jay-Jay Okocha, Nwankwo Kanu, Rashidi Yekini, Sunday Oliseh, and **Emmanuel Amunike>, Prince Adegoroye has, in his own right, become a builder of people and a remarkable force in the growth of grassroots politics in Akure, Ondo State, and beyond.
The Council Chairman also commended Prince Adegoroye’s distinguished record of public service, particularly his tenure as a member of the Ondo State House of Assembly representing Akure Constituency I from 1999 to 2003 and his subsequent appointment as Minister of State for Transportation in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. He described these milestones as clear evidence of the confidence reposed in him by both the people and the nation.
