Akure East LCDA Chairman, Hon. Kayode Taiwo Samson, Leads Condolence Visit to Late Olisa’s Family
The Chairman of Akure East Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Hon. Barr. Kayode Taiwo Samson, LL.M, on Thursday, June 11, 2026, led members of the elected council representing Lisa Ward 5 alongside the management team of the council on a condolence visit to the family of the late Senior High Chief Sunday Olufemi Olubodun, the Olisa and Traditional Prime Minister of Akure Kingdom, at the Lisa Palace in Akure.
The delegation was warmly received by Oba Olufunmilayo Ajayi Roboto, the Akapinsa of Ipinsa Kingdom, members of the Olisa Traditional Council, community leaders, and youths of Oke Lisa. During the solemn visit, prayers were offered for the peaceful repose of the departed traditional icon, whose passing has continued to attract tributes from far and near.
Speaking during the visit, Hon. Kayode Taiwo Samson described the late Olisa as an outstanding statesman, progressive leader, and custodian of Akure’s cultural heritage whose contributions to community development and traditional administration will remain indelible in the history of Akure Kingdom. He noted that the late Prime Minister’s traditional domain was deeply rooted within Akure East LCDA, making his demise a personal loss to the council and its people.
The Chairman further recalled the active role played by the late Senior High Chief Olubodun in the political and developmental growth of Ondo State. According to him, before ascending to the revered position of Olisa of Akure Kingdom, the late chief was a frontline political figure and a leading contender for the House of Assembly seat in Akure South Constituency I. He also remained steadfast in supporting the progressive movement in the state and participated actively in several town hall meetings, including those held at Oda during the gubernatorial campaign of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
Hon. Samson prayed for divine comfort for the Olubodun family, the people of Oke Lisa, and the entire Akure Kingdom. He urged all sons and daughters of the kingdom to uphold the virtues of unity, service, and dedication exemplified by the late Olisa, while praying that Almighty God grants his gentle soul eternal rest and rewards his remarkable legacy of service to humanity.
