Celebrating Excellence, Service, Integrity and Transformational Leadership in Ondo State
It was an atmosphere of honour, prestige, and celebration of excellence as distinguished personalities from various sectors of society were decorated with prestigious honours during the grand celebration of the 8th Anniversary of Democrat News Magazine held on Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the OSDPC Event Centre, First Gate, Ijapo Estate, Akure, Ondo State.
Among the prominent awardees was Hon. Bosun Ogunleye, a dynamic political figure widely described as one of the most visible and impactful Special Assistants to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. In recognition of his dedication to service, accessibility, and developmental contributions, he was decorated and honoured with the Most Impactful Special Assistant to the Governor Award by Democrat News Magazine.
Speaking during the event, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Democrat News Magazine, John Alaba Aliu, described Hon. Bosun Ogunleye as a shining symbol of purposeful leadership, grassroots development, and youth empowerment whose passion for community growth continues to inspire many across Ondo State.
According to him, Hon. Ogunleye has distinguished himself through unwavering commitment to the progress of society, especially through his active involvement in developmental advocacy while serving as a youth leader. He noted that as the leader of the Oke-Aro Youth Patriotic Forum, Hon. Ogunleye championed several community-driven projects that brought remarkable improvements to local residents.
“His leadership voice contributed significantly to pressing for developmental projects including a mega school, improved road infrastructure, streetlights, healthcare facilities, and community market stalls, among others. He remains a practical example of leadership defined by service and measurable impact,” Aliu remarked.
Also honoured at the memorable ceremony was Dr. Joseph Oludare Adeyekun, Director of Forestry in the Ondo State Ministry of Agriculture, who was decorated with the prestigious Icon in Public Service Award in recognition of his exemplary leadership, professional excellence, and unwavering commitment to policies that strengthen institutional efficiency and sustainable forestry administration in Ondo State.
John Alaba Aliu extolled Dr. Adeyekun as an administrator of uncommon brilliance whose integrity, dedication, and innovative mindset have continued to reposition the forestry sector for greater efficiency and long-term sustainability. He noted that the award recipient has remained committed to driving reforms and improving systems that ultimately benefit both government and society.
“He is a man whose passion for excellence speaks louder than words. Dr. Joseph Oludare Adeyekun does not relent in pursuing meaningful reforms and remarkable progress for the betterment of Ondo State Forestry. His ingenuity, strategic thinking, and innovative performances are shaping the system and laying enduring legacies for future generations,” he stated.
