,NIESV Ondo Week: Dr. Akinlanbi Akintomide Celebrates Landmark Success, Urges Public to Patronize Certified Professionals
The Chairman of the Ondo State Branch of the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers, Dr. Akinlanbi Akintomide, has expressed profound gratitude to God and members of the institution for the resounding success recorded during the just concluded NIESV Week in the state. The weeklong professional celebration, which featured a variety of intellectual, social, and sporting activities, was described by the Chairman as a remarkable gathering that strengthened professional unity and promoted the importance of estate surveying and valuation to the wider public.
Dr. Akintomide explained that the celebration commenced on Monday with a well-attended press conference where the leadership of the institution highlighted the importance of professionalism in the real estate sector. The day’s activities continued in the evening with a novelty football match played in collaboration with members of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors. The thrilling encounter ended in favour of the Estate Surveyors and Valuers, who triumphed with a 4–2 victory on penalties after an exciting contest.
According to the Chairman, the second day of the event was equally impactful as members of the institution embarked on a symbolic road walk aimed at creating public awareness about the role of professional estate surveyors in safeguarding property investments. The day also featured a quiz competition among students of higher institutions in Ondo State offering Estate Management, providing an avenue for young scholars to showcase their academic excellence and deepen their interest in the profession.
Activities continued on Wednesday with a comprehensive seminar focused on continuing professional development. The seminar attracted professionals, stakeholders, and industry players who gathered to deliberate on emerging trends and best practices within the real estate sector. The event also featured a special Women Forum which highlighted the growing role of women in the profession and celebrated their contributions to the growth of the institution.
The seminar session was followed by the launching of important initiatives and the presentation of awards to distinguished members and stakeholders who have contributed significantly to the advancement of estate surveying and valuation practice in Ondo State and beyond. The evening was crowned with a colourful dinner that provided an atmosphere for networking, reflection, and celebration among professionals.
The weeklong activities eventually culminated in the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the branch, where members deliberated on institutional progress, professional standards, and strategic plans for strengthening the role of estate surveyors in property development and management across the state.
Dr. Akintomide used the opportunity to send a strong message to the general public, urging property investors and landowners to always engage qualified professionals when dealing with property matters. According to him, entrusting real estate investments to unqualified individuals, often referred to as quacks, could lead to severe financial losses and complications that might ultimately destroy valuable investments.
He also expressed deep appreciation to past chairmen and leaders of the institution whose wealth of experience, guidance, and unwavering support contributed immensely to the success of the NIESV Week. He noted that their mentorship and dedication have continued to strengthen the institution and ensure its growth within the state.
The Chairman reaffirmed his commitment to continue building and developing the institution, emphasizing that the Ondo State branch has distinguished itself as one of the leading and most vibrant branches of the professional body in Nigeria. He noted with pride that the branch has consistently taken a pride of place among its contemporaries nationwide through its professional activities and commitment to excellence.

ESP Akinduro also used the opportunity to appreciate the Governor of Ondo State, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for what he described as a massive boost to the state public service through the recent inauguration of 34 Permanent Secretaries. According to him, the development reflects the administration’s commitment to strengthening governance and institutional capacity across the state.
