WORLD PAUSES TO CELEBRATE ONDO STATE MAN OF THE YEAR, PRINCE OLUSEGUN OMOJUWA, ON HIS SPECIAL BIRTHDAY
The world stands still in admiration and celebration as friends, associates, admirers, and well-wishers gather to honour an outstanding administrator, public servant, and exemplary leader, Prince Olusegun Omojuwa, on the occasion of his special birthday. It is a moment not only to celebrate the passage of time but also to reflect on a life richly dedicated to service, integrity, and unwavering commitment to the progress of society, particularly within Ondo State and beyond.
Born into the noble lineage of the late Chief Earnest Omoniyi Omojuwa and Mrs. Remilekun Omojuwa (née Durojaye) of Igboegunrin, Prince Omojuwa inherited a legacy of courage, justice, and leadership. His father, a respected Creek Overseer in the old Ilaje District Council of Western Nigeria, was known for his elegance, discipline, and strong advocacy for fairness and equity. These values became the guiding light that shaped the character, vision, and purposeful life of the young Olusegun.
His educational journey began at St. Jude’s Anglican Primary School, Atijere, where the foundation of knowledge and discipline was laid. He later proceeded to Community Grammar School, Igboegunrin, completing his secondary education in 1981 with excellent results that quickly distinguished him among his peers. His brilliance earned him early opportunities in the teaching profession before he gained admission in 1984 into the then Ondo State University, Ado-Ekiti, now known as Ekiti State University, where he obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science in 1988.
Prince Omojuwa’s passion for national development became evident during his National Youth Service when he served at the Mass Mobilisation for Social and Economic Reconstruction (MAMSER), now known as the National Orientation Agency, in Kauranamoda, old Sokoto State. There, he distinguished himself through remarkable leadership, innovation, and dedication to community engagement, earning the prestigious recognition as Best Corps Member while serving as Corps Liaison Officer.
In 1989, he joined the Ondo State Local Government Service, beginning a remarkable career that would span over three decades of impactful service. Rising steadily through the ranks from Senior Community Development Officer to the revered position of Head of Local Government Administration (HOLGA), he demonstrated exceptional competence and professionalism. Notably, he came first in the competitive examination and interview for the appointment of HOLGA. Over the years, he served in strategic roles across several Local Governments and later became Director of Personnel as well as Director of Manpower and Training at the Ondo State Local Government Service Commission, where he played a vital role in co-drafting the landmark Ondo State Local Government Staff Regulations of 2009, a policy framework still guiding the system today.
His pursuit of excellence extended beyond administrative service. In 2011, Prince Omojuwa was nominated for Leadership and Excellence in Public Service Training in the United Kingdom, a recognition that further highlighted his dedication to professional growth. He later received the COMSERVE Best Worker Award and Award of Excellence in Local Government Service, which earned him accelerated promotion to the rank of Director (Administration), Grade Level 16. Yet, despite these accomplishments, his thirst for knowledge remained unquenched, leading him to pursue an MSc in Local Government Studies at Obafemi Awolowo University, and later a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) degree at Elizade University, graduating with Second Class (Upper Division) in 2022.
While studying law, Prince Omojuwa became widely admired among colleagues and fellow students for his compassion and generosity, often supporting others with school fees and personal needs. Even during this period of academic pursuit, his dedication to public service never wavered. In 2021, he was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor by the late Rotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, where he worked closely with the then Deputy Governor, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, contributing meaningfully to governance and administrative coordination within the state.
His career trajectory continued to soar as he was appointed Permanent Secretary in 2022. Following his meritorious retirement in 2023, his wealth of experience and competence made his recall inevitable, as he returned to serve once again as Deputy Chief of Staff and later, in 2024, as Chief of Staff to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa. In this role, Prince Omojuwa has continued to demonstrate loyalty, diligence, and remarkable administrative capacity, becoming a stabilizing force within the government and a trusted pillar of governance.
Prince Omojuwa is a man profoundly defined by humility, intellectual depth, and unwavering love for humanity. His exceptional listening ability, openness to ideas, and solution-driven approach have endeared him to countless people within and outside the public service. A Jerusalem Pilgrim (JP), devoted family man, prolific writer, and reflective leader, he stands as a shining example of dedication to service, institutional growth, and human development.
In recognition of his outstanding leadership, character, and contributions to governance and society, Democrat News Magazine honoured him with the prestigious title of Ondo State Man of the Year in September 2025. Today, as the world celebrates his special birthday, it is a celebration of a life devoted to excellence, sacrifice, and transformative leadership.
Indeed, this celebration is more than a birthday tribute; it is a salute to a rare gem in public administration, a friend to many, and a beacon of hope and inspiration to younger generations.
