OLORI ADEJUMOKE ADELEYE NOMINATED FOR “OLORI OF THE YEAR” AWARD IN ONDO STATE

 

Her Royal Majesty, *Olori Adejumoke Adeleye*, wife of the Olubaka of Oka Kingdom, *HRM Oba (Dr.) Yusuf Adebori Adeleye OON*, has been nominated for the prestigious *“Olori of the Year in Ondo State” Award by Sunshine Standard Magazine*.

 

Announcing the nomination, the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of the magazine, *Mr. Oludaisi Adetarami*, described Olori Adeleye as *“a shining example of modern royalty whose compassion, vision, and service have transformed lives beyond the palace walls.”*

 

The award will be presented at the *Annual Public Lecture and Awards Ceremony of the magazine, scheduled for Sunday, March 1, 2026*, at the *OSPDC Event Centre, Ijapo Estate, Akure*, at *3:00 PM*.

 

According to the organizers, the nomination recognizes Olori Adeleye’s exceptional commitment to community welfare, cultural unity, and social development in *Oka-Akoko* and across *Ondo State*. Speaking on her impact, Adetarami noted that *“Her Royal Majesty has redefined the role of an Olori by placing children, families, and community development at the center of her leadership.”*

 

Special commendation was given to her maiden *Queen’s Christmas Carol and Children’s Funfair*, which benefited over *300 children* through the distribution of educational materials, games, competitions, raffle draws, and festive gifts. The organizers added that *“her personal involvement and generosity toward more than 250 children during the event demonstrate a deep-rooted passion for education and child welfare.”*

 

Beyond festive initiatives, Olori Adeleye was also praised for promoting unity and cultural pride through palace-supported programmes, as well as for encouraging strategic partnerships between traditional institutions and national agencies. Her engagement with the *National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA)* was cited as evidence of her forward-thinking leadership, with officials of the agency reportedly describing her as *“a woman of great repute whose influence bridges tradition and innovation.”*

 

The *“Olori of the Year” Award* is a highly regarded recognition by *Sunshine Standard Magazine*, previously bestowed on distinguished royal women noted for outstanding service and leadership. Past recipients include *Prof. Awa Momodu*, the Olori of *HRM Oba (Cdre) Andrew Momodu*, the Akala of Ikaram Kingdom, and *Dr. Adetokunbo Olubunmi Adetimehin*, the Olori of *HRM Oba (Dr.) Olufaderin Adetimehin*, the Jegun of Ile-Oluji Kingdom.

 

*Sunshine Standard Magazine* concluded that the nomination of Olori Adejumoke Adeleye reflects its commitment to celebrating women in traditional leadership who exemplify service, integrity, and positive social impact, describing her as *“eminently deserving of the ‘Olori of the Year’ honour.”*
