Baptist High School Akure Radiates Excellence at a Glamorous Inter-House Sports Competition
Baptist High School, Akure, was a beehive of excitement and colour on Thursday, January 22, 2026, as students, staff, parents, and invited guests gathered to celebrate the school’s Annual Inter-House Sports Competition in grand style.
The school premises came alive with cheers, music, and vibrant displays of athletic prowess as students showcased their talents across various track and field events. Parents, members of staff, and sports officials were present to witness the spectacle, lending their support and encouragement to the young athletes.
To ensure the safety of all participants and guests, security was well coordinated, with police officers on ground to maintain order and prevent any disruption by miscreants. This proactive measure contributed to the smooth and peaceful conduct of the event.
Delivering her address at the occasion, the amiable and proactive Principal of Baptist High School, Akure, Mrs. M. O. Ayeni, expressed profound joy and gratitude as she welcomed everyone to the 2026 Inter-House Sports Competition. She thanked God Almighty for His grace and for making the event a reality.
Mrs. Ayeni emphasized the importance of Physical and Health Education as a core subject in schools, noting that sports and games play a vital role in promoting physical fitness, wellness, discipline, and social interaction. She highlighted how sports can serve as a viable career path, opening doors to national and international recognition as well as financial breakthroughs. According to her, sports foster friendship, companionship, teamwork, and physical strength, making active participation essential for every student.
Addressing the competitors, the Principal reminded them that the competition was not a do-or-die affair. Drawing from biblical principles, she encouraged students to embrace the true spirit of sportsmanship—temperance, love, kindness, endurance, and acceptance—while giving their best in every contest.
On behalf of the School-Based Management Committee, the Parent-Teacher Association executives, the staff, and the entire student body, Mrs. Ayeni formally welcomed all guests and urged everyone to relax and enjoy the competition
At the end of the keenly contested competition, Blue House emerged overall winner, drawing loud cheers from students and supporters alike.
