COMRADE ADEWALE BOLARINWA HONOURED WITH DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP AWARD IN TRANSPORT MANAGEMENT

RTEAN Ondo Chairman Celebrated for Decades of Visionary Leadership and Service

The Chairman of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN), Ondo State Chapter, Comrade Adewale Bolarinwa, has been honoured with the prestigious Distinguished Leadership Award in Transport Management by The Democrat News Magazine, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the growth and stability of the transport sector.

The highly celebrated award was formally presented on 22nd December, 2025, marking another milestone in the illustrious career of a man widely regarded as a pillar of transport unionism and leadership in Ondo State.

Born several decades ago in the historic city of Akure, Comrade Bolarinwa hails from the respected Bolarinwa family of Akure South Local Government Area, Ondo State. He received his primary and secondary education within Akure, where his early years helped shape the discipline, resilience, and leadership qualities that would later define his life’s work.

Before fully embracing union leadership, Comrade Bolarinwa was an active transport operator who steadily expanded his operations through determination and hard work. His early involvement in union activities saw him play a notable role during a critical period in the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), when leadership challenges rocked the union. Following a protest over perceived injustices—an action that led to his suspension alongside 14 other drivers—Comrade Bolarinwa made a firm decision never to return to the NURTW.

Driven by courage, vision, and a desire for reform, he became one of the co-founders of the Road Transport Employers’ Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in Ondo State in 1985, at a time when the emergence of a rival association was strongly resisted. His foresight and resilience laid the foundation for what has grown into a formidable and respected body representing transport employers across the state.

For over four decades, Comrade Bolarinwa has served RTEAN with unwavering loyalty, integrity, and dedication, holding various leadership positions since April 1985. His commitment to service reached its peak when he was elected Chairman of RTEAN, Ondo State Chapter, on 20th November 2020. His leadership has since been widely applauded, leading to his re-election and inauguration in October 2025 in Abuja by the Executive President of RTEAN, Alhaji Musa Muhamed.

In honour of his decades-long impact and exemplary leadership in the transport sector, The Democrat News Magazine described Comrade Bolarinwa as a “distinguished leader whose life reflects courage, consistency, and service,” while presenting him with the Distinguished Leadership Award in Transport Management.

The award presentation at the RTEAN State Secretariat was witnessed by notable union leaders and stakeholders, including Comrade Moshide Blessing (Deputy Chairman), Ileola Omooba, Omooba Comrade Megbowon Enikanoselu, Prince Tekobo David, Oladiti Kasali, Comrade Mukaila Abdsalam, Arowojolu Sunday, Prince Aroaola Olasinbo (PRO), and Comrade Williams Adepoju, among others.

The honour stands as a testament to Comrade Adewale Bolarinwa’s enduring legacy as a trailblazer, reformer, and dependable leader in Nigeria’s transport industry.
