Gov. Aiyedatiwa’s Administration Breaks Barriers with Akungba–Ikare Road Dualisation

In a bold demonstration of unrelenting commitment to infrastructure development, the Ondo State Government has commenced the dualisation of the Akungba–Ikare Road, a project long considered technically daunting but critical to the economic and social growth of the State.

The project, which was officially flagged off as part of activities marking the Governor’s first 100 days in office, signals the administration’s determination to deliver on its promises and serve the true dividends of democracy.

The Akungba–Ikare Road is more than just a highway; it is a lifeline linking the northern senatorial district’s commercial hub and providing the primary access route to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba Akoko.
For years, this strategic corridor posed threats to lives and property due to its narrow, rocky terrain, and previous administrations were unable to surmount the technical challenges.

Today, however, the narrative has changed. The ongoing dualisation, led under the professional supervision of the Commissioner for Infrastructure, Lands, and Housing, Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye FNSE FNICE, has seen massive clearing and excavation works commence, proving that no technical difficulty is beyond solution with the right leadership and expertise.

By embarking on this ambitious project, the Aiyedatiwa administration is not only addressing a long-standing infrastructural deficit but also laying the foundation for safer travel, enhanced economic activities, and sustainable development. The dualisation of the Akungba–Ikare Road stands as a towering testament to an administration that matches vision with action, courage with competence, and promise with delivery. Truly, Ondo State is witnessing a new era of governance where the dividends of democracy are tangible, visible, and impactful.
