AMBASSADOR ADEMOLA ODUDU HONOURED AS “RESTORER OF MODESTY AND DECENCY” IN NURTW ONDO STATE COUNCIL
Ondo State, Nigeria — In a grand and colourful ceremony organized by the renowned Trumpet Global Magazine, the Ondo State Chairman of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), Ambassador Ademola Odudu, was decorated with the prestigious award of “Restorer of Modesty and Decency”—a title that celebrates his exemplary leadership and tireless dedication to restoring order, unity, and dignity within the union.
Since assuming leadership as the Ondo State NURTW Chairman, Ambassador Odudu has charted a transformative course that has brought about remarkable stability, inclusiveness, and progress in the union’s operations across the length and breadth of the state. Under his stewardship, peace has not only been preached but diligently upheld, echoing in every branch and corridor of the organization.
One of his most laudable achievements has been his commitment to inclusivity. In a rare demonstration of magnanimity and foresight, he reintegrated past leaders of the Union into the system, restoring their dignity by placing them on monthly stipends. This act has fostered unity and healed old wounds, reinforcing the fabric of solidarity within the union.
In his administration, no officer is left behind. Current state executives are fully compensated without delay, and the staff at the State Secretariat smile home each month with what can only be described as “jumbo pay”—a testament to Odudu’s prioritization of staff welfare.
A man well-versed in the workings of unionism, Ambassador Odudu is poised to complete the swearing-in of Chairmen and Executive Officers at the branch levels across Ondo State. This exercise, guided by the Union’s constitution and duly sanctioned by the Ondo State Government, reinforces the democratic principles he holds dear.
During these swearing-in ceremonies, the Chairman never fails to hammer on the centrality of peace. “Peace is sacrosanct,” he repeatedly emphasizes, adding that “nothing meaningful can be achieved in a chaotic atmosphere.” His message is clear: unity and tranquility are the lifeblood of sustainable progress.
Ambassador Odudu used the occasion to express his profound gratitude to the Executive Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, for his unwavering support in restoring the NURTW to its rightful place of pride. He praised the Governor’s zero-tolerance stance on public disorder, chaos, and any act of brigandage within the Union.
“This administration,” Odudu asserted, “has moved far beyond the dark days when leadership was seized through violent means. Today, it’s all about equity and due process. Everything is ‘turn by turn.’”
The high-flying Union leader, whose leadership style blends discipline with compassion, is no stranger to accolades. He has been honoured with numerous awards both within and outside the state—many from the media, which he recognizes as the conscience of the society.
Speaking to journalists shortly after receiving his latest award on Sunday, August 17th, Ambassador Odudu reflected on the significance of the honour. “This recognition will only strengthen my resolve to do more,” he said. “I am committed to maintaining peace and order in the Ondo State Council of the National Union, aligning with the vision of His Excellency, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to ensure a peaceful and prosperous state.”
He extended heartfelt appreciation to the event organizers and the media at large for their consistent efforts in showcasing the achievements of both the Ondo State Government and the Union. He also urged media practitioners to uphold journalistic integrity and steer clear of sensationalism in their reportage.
The glittering ceremony was attended by an array of dignitaries and stakeholders from the Union, including:
- Alhaji Sulaiman Adebayo Amosa, State Secretary
- Chief Adepetu Bembe, State Vice Chairman I
- Comrade Ogedengbe Ogunmuyiwa, Assistant State Secretary
- Alhaji Kazali, State Financial Secretary
- Comrade Bola Way, Assistant Financial Secretary
- Comrade Friday Bosede, Chairman, Ifelodun Branch
They joined in celebrating a man whose impact is not only being felt across the union but also across Ondo State as a whole.
Indeed, Ambassador Ademola Odudu’s legacy continues to inspire—a shining beacon of what transformative, inclusive, and principled leadership can achieve.
