A New Dawn for Akoko: Akungba–Ikare Road Under Total Transformation
For years, the Akungba–Ikare Road stood as a symbol of neglect and sorrow — a treacherous stretch of highway that claimed lives, endangered students, and stunted the growth of Akoko communities. But today, that painful chapter is being rewritten.
Thanks to the visionary leadership of Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa and the engineering brilliance of Engr. Ayorinde Abiola Olawoye, FNSE, FNICE, the long-overdue transformation of this critical route is now underway. The project features a complete redesign, dualization, and reconstruction of the road, promising a safer, faster, and more efficient connection between towns and institutions.
This is not just road construction — it’s a lifeline. Akungba, home to Adekunle Ajasin University, has for too long watched its students travel under the shadow of danger. Tragedies on the Akungba–Ikare Road have cost too many young lives. But hope has arrived.
With Governor Aiyedatiwa’s firm commitment to infrastructure renewal and Engr. Olawoye’s hands-on expertise, the once-lethal road is being reborn as a modern expressway — built to support education, commerce and community development.
This ambitious project is more than concrete and asphalt. It is a bold statement: The lives of our youths matter. The future of Akoko matters. Ondo State is rising.
As the bulldozers roll and construction advances, the people of Akoko can finally envision a future where mobility is safe, development is possiblenand dreams are no longer cut short.
