Ondo Charts a New Course: Aiyedatiwa’s Government Takes Bold Steps for Sustainable Development
In a strong display of leadership and foresight, the Ondo State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to sustainable development through key decisions taken at the recent State Executive Council meeting, chaired by Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa.
In a press statement released by Image Builders — a government-affiliated group tasked with promoting the achievements of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa’s administration — the organization urged the good people of Ondo State and Nigeria to disregard the blackmail being spread by individuals with parochial interests.
One of the highlights of the meeting was the Council’s approval of a state-wide flood mapping initiative. This strategic move is aimed at identifying and mitigating vulnerable zones across the state, ensuring lasting solutions to recurring flood disasters. According to the Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Tob Loko, the project will adopt a data-driven approach to flood management while also integrating emergency response mechanisms to protect affected communities.
In another forward-thinking move, the Council approved a ₦3.5 billion counterpart fund for the World Bank-supported Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP). The initiative is set to unlock rural connectivity, enhance agricultural output, and stimulate local economies. Commissioner for Infrastructure, Engr. Abiola Olawoye, revealed that preliminary road inspections and hydraulic designs will soon commence across all 18 local government areas to ensure high-quality and durable infrastructure.
Further underscoring the administration’s respect for tradition and due process, the Council also ratified the appointment of two new monarchs—reinforcing the government’s commitment to cultural heritage and community leadership.
