Ondo Backs National Biodiversity Push as Agric Commissioner Attends GEF-7 Committee Launch in Abuja
In a significant step toward environmental sustainability, the Ondo State Commissioner for Agriculture and Forestry took part in the official inauguration of the National Project Steering Committee (NPSC) for the GEF-7 Biodiversity Project in Abuja.
The project, titled “Conservation of Biodiversity and Sustainable Use of Lowland Forest Mosaic Landscape in Edo, Delta, Ogun, and Ondo States,” focuses on protecting Nigeria’s threatened forest ecosystems through innovative, community-driven conservation strategies.
The Commissioner reiterated Ondo State’s active commitment to biodiversity preservation and sustainable forest use, highlighting the state’s strategic role in the success of the multi-state initiative. The Abuja inauguration brought together environmental leaders, policy makers, and technical experts to launch a united front in safeguarding Nigeria’s natural heritage.
