OGSA 72nd AGM: Ijogun, Oluyide, Kosemani, Others Commend the Contributions of 45,000 Old Students of Oyemekun Grammar School
The Global President of the Oyemekun Grammar School Alumni Association (OGSA), Dr. Niyi Ijogun, has extended his heartfelt commendations to the remarkable contributions made by over 45,000 members who have passed through the esteemed institution’s halls. He praised their continued commitment to advancing the sustainable legacy of Oyemekun Grammar School, a hallmark of excellence.
Dr. Ijogun made this statement during an interview with The Democrat News Magazine at the 72nd Annual General Meeting (AGM) of OGSA, which took place on Saturday, February 1st, 2025, at the School Hall in Akure, Ondo State. The AGM, which coincided with the celebration of the school’s Founder’s Week, was marked by a thoughtful review of the school’s constitution, with discussions centered on refining it for further growth. Following comprehensive deliberations, the updated constitution was unanimously adopted.
During his address, Dr. Ijogun reflected on the ethos of the school, recalling its motto, “Prodio Et Patria”, which translates to “For God and our Fatherland”. He credited his personal success to divine providence and emphasized that the visionaries of Oyemekun Grammar School have always placed God at the center of their mission. He expressed profound gratitude for the school’s sustained blessings, which continue to guide its alumni towards greater achievements.
Chief Dr. (Mrs.) Stella Kosemani Kolawole, a respected alumna, also shared her sentiments, noting that Oyemekun Grammar School instilled in her the invaluable virtue of courage during her Higher School Certificate (HSC) studies in 1967. Her remarks added a rich layer of historical perspective, highlighting the school’s pivotal role in shaping strong and determined individuals.
Rev. Ayoola Ikulanberu, the Global Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Alumni Association, described the AGM as a tremendous success, lauding the quality of the newly ratified constitution. He emphasized that the current executive committee (EXCO) now operates with a solid constitutional framework, benefiting from the strong backing of nine previous executive bodies.
The Chairman of the Lagos Branch, Chief Ayotunde Ogunmodede, also joined in the celebration of the school’s accomplishments and its thriving alumni network.
Mr. Okeowo, the immediate past Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School, expressed gratitude to the OGSA for its unwavering support throughout his tenure. He particularly commended Dr. Ijogun and the association for their role in advancing the school’s goals. Mr. Okeowo also praised Mr. Adeniyi Oluyide, the current Principal, for making a swift and positive impact upon assuming leadership.
In an exclusive interview with journalists, the award-winning Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School, Mr. Adeniyi Oluyide, shared his exciting vision for the school. Oluyide, who has garnered attention for his dynamic leadership style, revealed plans for major infrastructural projects, particularly the construction of a perimeter fence to protect the school from encroachment. He expressed his gratitude to the Alumni Association for their continuous support, which has played a key role in the ongoing development of the school.
