“I Am Not a Political Follower, I Support Leaders With Proven Capacity” -Dr. Adeniran Oyebade
Hon. Dr. Adeniran Oyebade has declared that he is not a political follower of any individual political leader in Nigeria, stressing that his political allegiance is guided by capacity, competence and the ability of individuals to provide purposeful leadership.
Oyebade made the position known in a press statement made available to The Democrat News Magazine in Akure on Sunday, September 20, 2026, where he explained that his approach to politics is based on principles and the quality of leadership rather than personal attachment to political godfathers.
According to him, he believes that political participation should be centred on the advancement of society and the promotion of leaders who possess the vision, competence and commitment required to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people.
He noted that his decision to support individuals is therefore determined by what such persons represent, their demonstrated capacity and their ability to translate ideas and policies into tangible development for the people.
Oyebade, who has been involved in political activities from his youthful days, has built a reputation as a political mobiliser and strategist, participating in various political engagements and contributing to campaigns and movements at different levels.
His political journey has seen him occupy strategic roles in political mobilisation. In 2024, he was publicly identified as Director-General of the Olusola Oke Campaign Organisation in Ondo Central during the controversy surrounding the Ondo State APC governorship primary.
He was also reported in 2024 as leading a group of former APC members who moved to the Peoples Democratic Party in Ondo State, where he publicly stated his willingness to work with the party and its then governorship candidate, Agboola Ajayi.
Against this background, Oyebade’s latest position further underscores what he described as an independent-minded approach to political engagement, in which personal loyalty to political personalities is secondary to competence, capacity and the prospect of achieving positive results for the people.
He therefore maintained that his political support would continue to be directed towards individuals whom he considers capable of providing effective representation and purposeful leadership, stressing that political leadership should ultimately be measured by capacity, vision, performance and impact on society.
