ADEKUNLE BOWS OUT OF ACTIVE SERVICE AMIDST OVATION AS SOUTH-WEST ZONAL DIRECTOR CONDUCTS PENS-DOWN CEREMONY

It was an atmosphere of celebration, appreciation and heartfelt tributes as the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Ondo State Directorate, formally bid farewell to its State Director, Mrs. Olufunke Moradeyo Adekunle, who retired from the Federal Civil Service after an outstanding 35 years of dedicated service.
The colourful retirement ceremony, held on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, attracted top government functionaries, management and staff of the National Orientation Agency, former Directors of the Agency, family members, friends and other distinguished guests from across the country who gathered to honour a woman whose public service career has been defined by integrity, professionalism and exemplary leadership.
The highpoint of the event was the symbolic Pens-Down Ceremony, conducted by the South-West Zonal Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mr. Kehinde Ogunkuade, signifying the official conclusion of Mrs. Adekunle’s distinguished career in the Federal Civil Service. The ceremony was greeted with thunderous applause and standing ovation as colleagues, admirers and well-wishers celebrated her remarkable contributions to the Agency and the nation.
Speaking at the occasion, dignitaries described Mrs. Adekunle as a disciplined, dependable and visionary administrator whose commitment to duty, humility and excellent human relations earned her the respect of both staff and stakeholders. They noted that her leadership fostered unity, staff welfare, professionalism and enhanced service delivery within the Ondo State Directorate.
Mrs. Adekunle began her career in public service in 1991 with the Mass Mobilisation for Self-Reliance, Social Justice and Economic Recovery (MAMSER) as an Account Executive Officer at the Agency’s National Headquarters. Following the transformation of MAMSER into the National Orientation Agency, she continued to distinguish herself through hard work, dedication and unwavering commitment to national development.
Her retirement marks the end of a significant chapter in the history of the Ondo State Directorate, as she is the last officer from the MAMSER generation serving in the Directorate.
Throughout her illustrious career, Mrs. Adekunle served in several strategic positions, including Internal Auditor, Head of the Accounts Department for over two decades, Deputy Director in charge of Akure South Local Government Office, before attaining the position of State Director on Grade Level 17—the pinnacle of her civil service career.
Though her tenure as State Director was relatively brief, she successfully consolidated on the achievements of her predecessors by strengthening institutional discipline, promoting staff unity, improving welfare and sustaining the Agency’s mandate of effective public enlightenment and citizen engagement.
In their goodwill messages, former Ondo State Directors of the Agency, Mr. Bode Famose and Pastor James Adekunle, alongside other guests, commended her exemplary service, describing her as an outstanding administrator whose legacy of accountability, diligence and selfless service would remain a reference point for generations of officers.
An emotional Mrs. Adekunle expressed profound gratitude to God, the management of the Agency, members of staff, family and friends for their unwavering support throughout her career. She encouraged officers of the Agency to remain committed to the core values of discipline, integrity and patriotism, while charging them to continue advancing the mandate of the National Orientation Agency.
The Management and Staff of the National Orientation Agency, Ondo State Directorate, paid glowing tributes to the retiring Director, acknowledging her immense contributions to the growth and development of the Directorate and describing her as a role model whose impact would continue to inspire excellence in public service.
As she bows out of active service amidst applause and goodwill, Mrs. Olufunke Moradeyo Adekunle leaves behind an enduring legacy of faithful service, exceptional leadership and unwavering dedication to national development.
