NOA Intensifies Grassroots Sensitization on Security, Flood Mitigation, and Government Programmes in Okitipupa and Irele
In a renewed effort to promote security consciousness, curb youth extremism, and mitigate the impact of flooding, the National Orientation Agency (NOA) has taken its nationwide sensitization campaign to traditional institutions in Okitipupa and Irele Local Government Areas of Ondo State.
At the Palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba M.O. Sewo, the Oloto of Igbisin-Oloto in Okitipupa LGA, the NOA representative highlighted the Agency’s focus on five thematic areas: discouraging sign-out extreme practices among students, flood mitigation, national identity promotion, government policies and programmes, and security consciousness.
The NOA officer emphasized key government initiatives including the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), Student Loan Programme (SUPA), National Youth Investment Fund (NYIF), and the Conditional Cash Transfer scheme—programmes designed to uplift lives and promote inclusive development.
In his remarks, Oba M.O. Sewo commended the Federal Government for its intervention programmes, urging greater transparency and more robust communication strategies to ensure grassroots awareness and participation.
Similarly, in Irele Local Government, Mr. Akinjayeju David, NOA officer, paid an advocacy visit to the Palace of the Odogbo of Omi, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olorunsola Akinyelure, who also serves as Chairman of Traditional Rulers in Irele.
Speaking to the Council of Chiefs, Mr. Akinjayeju reinforced the campaign’s core themes, urging community leaders to support government programmes, embrace national identity values, prepare proactively for flooding, and remain vigilant about security concerns.
Oba Akinyelure applauded the NOA’s initiative and called on the government to bring more impactful programmes to the grassroots. He charged his Chiefs to spread the message across their domains and ensure proper maintenance of waterways and culverts to reduce the risks of flooding.
The sensitization campaign by NOA underscores the Agency’s commitment to bridging the information gap between government and citizens, while also promoting a sense of national responsibility and preparedness at the community level.
