NIEEE AKURE CHAPTER CHAIRMAN CHARGES ENGINEERS ON NATIONAL RENEWAL, TECHNOLOGICAL INDEPENDENCE AND NATION-BUILDING

**Independence Day Message to Members of NIEEE, Akure Chapter*

Esteemed Elders, Respected Fellows, Distinguished members of the Nigerian Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Akure Chapter, colleagues, and dear friends,

It is with great pride and a deep sense of responsibility that I extend warm greetings to you all as we celebrate our nation’s Independence. This occasion is more than a commemoration of our freedom; it is a reminder of the sacrifices, courage, and collective vision that shaped our nation. It is also an opportunity for us to reflect on our responsibility as professionals and citizens in building the Nigeria we desire.

As engineers, we are problem-solvers, innovators, and nation-builders. Our profession plays a vital role in the development of reliable power systems, digital infrastructure, communication networks, industrial growth, automation, and sustainable technologies. Every design we produce, every project we supervise, and every solution we develop has the potential to improve lives and strengthen our communities.

However, true independence goes beyond political freedom. It includes technological independence, energy security, economic resilience, professional integrity, and the ability to create solutions that address our unique national challenges. Nigeria needs engineers who are not only technically competent, but also ethical, creative, courageous, and committed to excellence. We must continue to invest in knowledge, embrace emerging technologies, mentor younger professionals, and promote standards that will advance our industry.

As members of NIEEE, Akure Chapter, let us remain united and purposeful. Let us support one another, collaborate with relevant institutions, and use our expertise to contribute meaningfully to the development of Ondo State and Nigeria at large. Let us reject complacency and embrace continuous learning, innovation, and service. The future will not be built by spectators; it will be built by professionals who are prepared to take responsibility and act.

In moments when national challenges appear overwhelming, let us remember that progress is achieved through consistent effort. Each ethical decision, each innovative idea, and each contribution to our profession is a step toward a stronger and more independent Nigeria. Our country may face difficulties, but its future remains full of promise and we have an important role to play in realizing that promise.

I therefore encourage every member to remain hopeful, patriotic, and committed to professional excellence. Let us be ambassadors of integrity and competence wherever we serve. Together, we can help build a nation powered by knowledge, innovation, responsible leadership, and sustainable development.

On behalf of the executive committee, I wish all members of NIEEE, Akure Chapter, and their families a joyful and meaningful Independence celebration. May our nation continue to grow in peace, unity, and prosperity.

*Happy Independence Day!*
*Long live NIEEE, Akure Chapter.*
**Long live the engineering profession.*
**Long live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.**

Thank you.
