PUBLIC NOTICE
To All Public and Private Establishments in Oba-Ile
The Oba-Ile Progressive Union (O.P.U) wishes to address the growing and persistent practice among certain public and private establishments within our community who, in their signposts, advertisements, and official communications, refer to our town as “Oba-Ile, Akure.”
We hereby formally and firmly denounce this misrepresentation.
Oba-Ile is a distinct and historic community, proudly situated in Akure North Local Government Area of Ondo State. Though we share close proximity with Akure, our identity is unique and must not be subsumed, altered, or misrepresented in any form.
For the avoidance of doubt, the correct and official name of our town is Oba-Ile.
The addition of “Akure” to our name is misleading, provocative, and does not reflect our rightful status as an autonomous community. Consequently, all signposts, media advertisements, documents, and formal references must properly state “Oba-Ile.”
We therefore respectfully request that all government bodies, corporate organizations, and private establishments update their records, publications, and signages immediately to reflect this correction.
This call is not merely about a name—it is about the preservation of our cultural identity, historical heritage, and community dignity. Mislabeling creates unnecessary confusion for residents, visitors, and future generations.
We count on your understanding, cooperation, and respect for the integrity of Oba-Ile.
