Pastor Evelyn TB Joshua Honoured as Volunteer Ambassador on International Volunteer Day in Akure
The General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN), Pastor Evelyn Onyisi TB Joshua, has been conferred with the prestigious Volunteer Ambassador Award during the International Volunteer Day celebration held in Akure, Ondo State.
The honour recognises her steadfast commitment to humanitarian work, global evangelism and youth-driven volunteerism through the Emmanuel Global Network and other humanitarian arms of the ministry at the event held at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome).
Born on December 17, 1968, in the North Local Government Area of Delta State, Pastor Evelyn Joshua began her early education at St. Finbarr’s Primary School before moving to Lagos, where she completed both primary and secondary schooling. She later proceeded to Ghana for her tertiary studies in Management Studies.
Over the years, Pastor Evelyn has served diligently across various departments of SCOAN, including Sunday School and Evangelism, contributing immensely to the spiritual growth of the church. As the wife of the late founder, Senior Prophet TB Joshua, she worked closely with him as both partner and disciple—deeply grounded in the ministry’s mission.
Since assuming leadership after the passing of Prophet TB Joshua, Pastor Evelyn has expanded the church’s global outreach, reinforcing the foundations laid by the founder.
Through Emmanuel Global Network, she has facilitated numerous charitable missions across Africa, Asia, South America, and beyond.
Relief missions to Kenya, Zambia, Ghana, South Africa, Argentina, and Indonesia
Support for displaced victims of the 2022 flooding disaster in Southern Nigeria
Food, clothing and cash distributions to rural communities in Ghana, Kenya and South Africa
Provision of school materials and portable water to several villages
Continuous support for orphanages and rehabilitation centers in Lagos
Her leadership has sustained and expanded SCOAN’s strong presence worldwide, with Emmanuel TV and the Emmanuel TV Hybrid Box strengthening the church’s evangelical reach.
Impacting Youth Through Volunteerism
Responding to questions on the importance of volunteering—especially among the youth—Pastor Evelyn emphasized that young people form the heartbeat of most of SCOAN’s charitable missions.
“We have many young people in our organization. Here in Nigeria, the youths are always ready to support because they truly understand the meaning of reaching out. We never struggle to bring them together for charitable missions,” she said.
When asked about the challenges of leading the ministry after Prophet TB Joshua’s passing, she described the moment as unexpected yet divine:
“I was not prepared for the responsibility when it came. But life demands that you gather yourself and keep moving. Even while the Prophet was alive, I was not left uninformed. His passing was a shock, but with God’s grace, I regained my strength. Today, we continue to move forward.”
Pastor Evelyn affirmed that SCOAN’s humanitarian and evangelical works will continue to grow, with new projects underway:
“We are adding new initiatives to what we started from the beginning. When the time is right, they will unfold.”
Speaking on Prophet TB Joshua’s deep love for, the people, especially those of Ondo State, she expressed commitment to preserving his legacy:
“He was truly a man of the people. He loved Ondo State dearly and would have done even more. Today, we continue the legacy he left behind, and by God’s grace, the plans he had will come to fruition.”
In her closing remarks, Pastor Evelyn encouraged all who were inspired by the life of Prophet TB Joshua to remain devoted to God and to humanity:
“Trust God completely. Surrender everything to Him. Do what is right, especially when it impacts lives positively, and live each day as if it were your last.”
