International Volunteer Day: Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin Stands Out, Receives Volunteer Ambassador Award
The Proprietress and CEO of the multiple award-winning Mummy’s Place International School and Emplace College, Akure, Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin, has been decorated with the prestigious Volunteer Ambassador Award in recognition of her longstanding commitment to humanitarian service.
The honour was bestowed on her at the International Culture and Event Centre (The Dome), Akure, on Friday, December 5, during the grand celebration of International Volunteer Day.
Speaking with journalists shortly after receiving the insignia of honour, Dr. Oshin described volunteerism as a calling deeply rooted in her faith. She explained that the biblical injunction, “Love your neighbour as yourself,” has consistently inspired her to impact lives across different strata of society.
She urged churches and faith-based institutions to show greater intentionality towards supporting the vulnerable—particularly the poor, widows, and orphans—emphasizing that meaningful leadership must go beyond prayers and prophecies to address real societal needs.
Dr. Oshin further encouraged Nigerians to embrace a lifestyle of sacrifice and compassion, especially in the spirit of the Christmas season, which reflects the birth and benevolence of Jesus Christ.
Responding on behalf of all awardees, she expressed profound gratitude to the Ondo State Government and the event organizers. She noted that the honour serves as a reminder of the shared responsibility to look out for one another and uplift the community in every little way possible.
Earlier in his address, the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa on Volunteer Services and State Coordinator of All Nigerian Services, Hon. Adeolu Iwakun, praised the Governor’s commitment to making Ondo State a thriving hub of volunteerism. He commended the awardees for their outstanding contributions to community development and applauded Governor Aiyedatiwa for providing an enabling environment for such initiatives to flourish.
The event also celebrated several other distinguished personalities, including Miss Mary Morayo James, Ondo State’s Best Corps Member of the Year; Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, CPS to the Governor; Elder Isaac Tapere, CEO of TISC Building; Dr. Thomas Ikubese, CMD of Sckye Hospital, Akure; and Prophetess Evelyn TB Joshua, General Overseer of the Synagogue Church of All Nations, among others.
