Flooded and Damaged: Dalvog/KCM Ijoka Residents Cry Out for Urgent Road Overhaul
Residents of Dalvog/KCM area in Ijoka, Akure South Local Government Area of Ondo State, have issued a heartfelt plea to the Governor of Ondo State, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, urging immediate intervention on the dangerously deteriorated road threatening their community.
In a peaceful protest held on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, concerned residents barricaded the road as a symbolic call for help, following a tragic accident that reportedly claimed the lives of some community members due to the road’s hazardous condition.
The protest, aimed at preventing further casualties, drew attention to the increasing risks posed by the damaged road, particularly during the rainy season when flooding renders it nearly impassable.
Speaking to Democrat News Magazine, Comrade Olubola Ariyo Adelelekun, a prominent youth leader in the community, described the residents’ growing frustration and fears.
“It is unfortunate that we lost some lives recently due to the poor state of this road,” Comrade Adelelekun lamented. “We are not here to fight—we are begging our performing Governor, Dr. Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, to come to our rescue. This road is almost completely cut off. What we need is a complete overhaul with proper asphalt resurfacing.”
The protest highlights the broader infrastructural challenges in the area, with residents saying the road’s collapse is not only disrupting daily life but also endangering lives.
As the rainy season continues to worsen the road’s condition, the people of Dalvog/KCM Ijoka hope their plea will reach the ears of the state government—and that swift action will follow.
