…Oladeji Okanlawon Foundation gives to Widows

In an atmosphere rich with celebration, gratitude and prestige, the 23rd anniversary of the Okanlawon Media Hub and the official launch of the Oladeji Okanlawon Foundation & Award Presentation was held on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

The event, which took place at the NULGE Hall within the Akure South Local Government Secretariat, brought together a tapestry of dignitaries, traditional rulers, religious leaders, media practitioners, and community stakeholders, all gathered to honour the legacy and vision of a media enterprise that has stood the test of time.

The hall shimmered with elegance as guests arrived in colourful attires, welcomed by the warmth of the host and the vibrant energy of the program. A highlight of the occasion was the recognition of individuals who have made outstanding contributions to society through leadership, community service, and media excellence. Among the esteemed awardees were Hon. Dr. Donald Gbenga Fasua, Chairman of Akure South Local Government; Oba Oluwagbemiga Ojo, the revered Iralepo of Isinkan; Dr. Olumuyiwa Adu; Pastor and Prophetess JOR Akintade Tokotaya; Dr. Thomas Ikubeze, CMD of Sckye Hospital, Akure; Ambassador Taiwo Gold Adebayo, President of FIBAN Nigeria; and Mr. Collins Alimi, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of The Path Magazine.

A moving moment in the event came with the speech of Sheikh Abdulazeez Yayi Akorede, the Chief Imam of Akure Kingdom, who himself was an award recipient. In his heartfelt address, Sheikh Akorede extolled the unwavering dedication and resilience of Prophet Elijah Oladeji, founder of the Okanlawon Media Hub. He encouraged him not to be discouraged by life’s hurdles, reminding him that perseverance always precedes progress. “Tomorrow holds better things,” he declared with spiritual optimism, adding a divine tone to the already inspiring gathering.

Prophet Elijah Oladeji, the visionary behind the Okanlawon Media Hub and the convener of the event, took to the stage to express his deep appreciation to all supporters and stakeholders who have walked alongside him over the years. He emphasized that the awards were not randomly bestowed, but carefully selected based on the remarkable impact and integrity demonstrated by the recipients in their respective fields. “We honour not only success,” he said, “but also service, consistency, and selflessness.”

Beyond celebration and commendation, the anniversary event reflected a deeper social mission. As part of his foundation’s outreach, Prophet Oladeji extended charity to widows in the community, distributing welfare packages in a heartfelt act of generosity. This gesture underscored the foundation’s commitment to social impact and its resolve to uplift the vulnerable. “Giving back is not just a duty,” he noted, “it is a way of life that keeps our mission human and grounded.”

Several awardees and attendees, while speaking with The Democrat News Magazine and other media outlets present, lauded the organizers for their commitment to excellence and for creating a platform that celebrates unsung heroes. With eyes set on the future and hearts full of hope, the 23rd anniversary of the Okanlawon Media Hub not only marked a milestone of resilience in the media landscape but also redefined what it means to lead with vision, serve with compassion, and honour with purpose.
