Principals Laud Ondo State Government as New Academic Session Begins Across Schools
As schools across Ondo State reopen for a new academic session, principals of various secondary schools in Akure have commended the state government for its unwavering commitment to quality education while emphasizing the need for continued collaboration among stakeholders.
Speaking with journalists, Mr. Adeniyi Oluyide, Principal of Oyemekun Grammar School, Akure, praised the Ondo State Government for its exceptional support to the education sector. He, however, noted a few exceptions concerning the continued use of old textbooks by some students. He appealed to parents to step up their roles, stressing that the government has been doing its part excellently.
“Our school has remained disciplined under my watch. We are intentional about shaping every student to succeed in life,” he added, while noting that some newly admitted students were yet to resume.
At St. Louis Girls’ Grammar School, Akure, the principal, Mrs. Adara, expressed heartfelt gratitude to God for the successful commencement of the new academic year. She stated that both staff and students were fully prepared for the academic tasks ahead.
“The new students have been formally welcomed and charged to be disciplined, obey school rules, and work hard to achieve academic excellence,” she said.
Also lending her voice, Mrs. Gilbert Ojo Catherine, Principal of Celestial Church Grammar School, Akure, urged her staff to sustain the academic momentum and uphold high standards in both teaching and discipline. She called on parents to provide the needed support and materials to ensure their children’s success.
At United CAC Akure, Principal Mrs. Daudu Bamidele disclosed that all necessary structures had been put in place to guarantee a smooth take-off of the new academic term. She hailed the innovative policies of the state government, describing them as “game-changing initiatives” that would add “glamour and value” to the education system.
Mr. F.O. Alarapon, Principal of Akure High School, emphasized the need for collaboration between parents, teachers, and students.
“Our academic standards have been raised—not to make things difficult—but to help bring out the very best in our students. And I’m proud to say they are rising to the challenge,” he stated.
From Estate High School, Akure, Principal Mrs. Biodun Olaimolu encouraged teachers to correct students with love, noting that many students come from difficult family backgrounds.
“Some of them feel unloved, but when discipline is rooted in care, it transforms them. Our teachers have shown great commitment and a deep sense of responsibility,” she affirmed.
At Adegbola Memorial Grammar School, Akure, Principal Mrs. L.R. Omotosho highlighted the enthusiasm of newly admitted students and urged parents to be intentional in providing for their children’s educational needs.
Meanwhile, Mr. Makinde Taiwo, Principal of the School for the Hearing Impaired, Akure, commended the government of Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa for its massive investment in inclusive education, especially in the areas of feeding, housing, and infrastructure.
He encouraged parents of children with disabilities not to lose hope, noting that many such students had gone on to lecture in universities and serve in professional capacities.
