BOSUN OGUNLEYE HAILS GOV. AIYEDATIWA’S SUPREME COURT VICTORY AS TRIUMPH FOR DEMOCRACY
Hon. Bosun Ogunleye, Special Assistant to the Governor on Mobilization, has congratulated the Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, and his Deputy, Dr. Olaide Adelami, on their decisive victory at the Supreme Court. He described the judgment as a landmark moment in the democratic journey of the state.
Hon. Ogunleye, who also serves as the Coordinator of all Special Assistants in Akure South and Vice Chairman of the Forum of Special Assistants to the Governor in Ondo State, expressed his admiration for the resilience and leadership of Governor Aiyedatiwa throughout the legal process. He emphasized that the verdict represents not just a personal win for the Governor, but a collective victory for the people of Ondo State.
In a personally signed message, Hon. Ogunleye stated that the Supreme Court judgment marks the final seal on the legal contest surrounding the November 16, 2024 gubernatorial election. “This verdict is a triumph of democracy and a clear reaffirmation of the people’s will as freely expressed at the ballot box,” he said.
The Supreme Court, sitting in Abuja on Wednesday, dismissed the appeal filed by Hon. Agboola Ajayi of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) after it was formally withdrawn. The apex court also struck out separate appeals by the governorship candidates of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Bamidele Akingboye, and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Ogunfeyimi Kolawole.
With this ruling, Governor Aiyedatiwa has secured the highest judicial endorsement of his electoral mandate, putting an end to all legal disputes and solidifying his legitimacy as the duly elected leader of Ondo State. Hon. Ogunleye commended the judiciary for upholding the rule of law and protecting the sanctity of the democratic process.
“The will of the people has once again prevailed,” Hon. Ogunleye declared. “It is now time to put litigation behind us and focus on governance, development, and delivering the dividends of democracy to our people across the state.”
