NOA Advocacy Campaign Gains Momentum in Akoko N/E: COMO Arowofela Leads Engagements with Royal and Religious Leaders
In a bid to promote national unity and public awareness on key developmental themes, the Community Orientation and Mobilization Officer (COMO) of Akoko North East, Mr. Tunde Arowofela, has taken the Federal Government’s nationwide advocacy campaign to strategic stakeholders across the local government area.
The campaign, which focuses on five thematic areas—value reorientation, discouraging extreme practices, flood mitigation, security consciousness, and sensitization on government programmes and policies—has received strong backing from traditional and religious institutions in the region.
The advocacy visit began at the palace of His Royal Majesty, Oba Saba Olufemi Bankole, the Ajiho III, Oluwade of Akunu Land, where Mr. Arowofela emphasized the important role of traditional rulers in grassroots mobilization. In his response, Oba Bankole commended the federal government for the initiative and assured the continued support of the traditional council in educating and guiding the people toward positive national values.
Further extending the campaign’s reach, Mr. Arowofela held consultative meetings with prominent religious leaders. He met with the Chief Imam of Akoko North East LGA, Alhaji Mohammadu Abbas, who pledged the cooperation of the Muslim community in promoting peace, security, and responsible civic conduct. Similarly, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), General Prophet Bolarinwa Emmanuel, hosted the COMO for a robust discussion on the need for religious leaders to champion national values and discourage extreme behaviors within their congregations.
The campaign also featured grassroots sensitization programs at various places of worship. At Oketura CAC in Ikare-Akoko, Mr. Arowofela addressed congregants on the dangers of environmental neglect, the importance of security awareness, and the need to shun all forms of extremist ideologies. Similar messages were echoed at the Celestial Church of Christ, Ebenezer Parish in Ugbe Akoko, where the faithful were urged to embrace national values and support ongoing government efforts aimed at improving social welfare and public safety.
The series of advocacy visits highlight the commitment of the federal government to deepen civic engagement and ensure that all citizens are well-informed about their roles in building a secure, united, and progressive Nigeria. With the enthusiastic support of community leaders, the campaign is set to make a meaningful impact across Akoko North East and beyond.
