Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin Receives Distinguished Leadership Award in School Administration
As NUJ Federated Chapel Marks 10th Anniversary in Grand Style
Dr. (Mrs.) Damilola Oshin, the visionary CEO and Proprietress of Mummy’s Place International School and Emplace College, Akure, has been honoured with the Distinguished Leadership Award in School Administration.
The award recognizes her outstanding contributions to education and humanity, both within and beyond the classroom. Driven by passion and divine inspiration, Dr. Oshin has consistently worked to make a lasting impact on children’s lives.
The prestigious award was presented during the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Federated Chapel, Ondo State Council. The event, held on Sunday, June 22, 2025, at the OSDPC Events Hall, radiated glamour, pride, and purpose—truly befitting a decade of journalistic excellence.
In his tribute, Comrade Alaba Aliu, Chairman of the Chapel, described Dr. Oshin as “a trailblazer and a beacon of hope in the educational sector across Ondo State and Nigeria.” He praised her selfless dedication, visionary leadership, and unwavering passion for academic excellence and philanthropy, urging leaders in all sectors to emulate her exemplary service.
Dr. Oshin views education as a fundamental right for every Nigerian child and has worked tirelessly to make it accessible and affordable across all social strata. Unlike many contemporary schools that price out low- and middle-income families, her institutions remain inclusive.
Despite the state-of-the-art facilities at Mummy’s Place International School and Emplace College, Akure, tuition fees are kept moderate and affordable. For Dr. Oshin, establishing schools is a ministry—a calling to positively transform lives.
In recognition of excellence, Mummy’s Place International School, Akure was awarded Best Private School in Nigeria on October 5, 2022, during World Education Day.
Also commending Dr. Oshin, the Grand Patron of the Chapel and Chief Press Secretary to Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, lauded her noble contributions to nation-building through education and philanthropy.
He emphasized, “The impact of Dr. Oshin’s work cannot be overstated — her influence resonates not only in Ondo State and Nigeria but across borders.” He noted that many students who have passed through her institutions are now excelling in various fields, a testament to her dedication to nurturing future leaders.
Dr. Oshin’s recognition is a celebration of excellence, integrity, and the transformative power of education—values she continues to uphold with grace and distinction.

Several members of the NUJ Federated Chapel were also recognized for their contributions to the union, including Prince Adefemi Ojopagogo, Prince Adebayo Adediran, Mrs. Ngozi Aduloju, among others.
In his acceptance speech, Pastor Elijah Olujimi Ajibade, ACO, Continent 3, and Regional Pastor, RCCG Region 22, expressed deep gratitude to the NUJ Federated Chapel for the honor. He attributed his achievements to God’s guidance and reaffirmed his commitment to serving humanity with purpose.
Pastor Ajibade noted that many awardees were unaware of the selection process but believed that their quiet good works had been noticed and were worthy of recognition. He emphasized that the awards celebrate genuine service aimed at glorifying God through positive societal impact.
He encouraged everyone to reflect on their source of inspiration, stressing that divine influence remains the foundation of true success. Concluding his remarks, he thanked the organizers and well-wishers, praying for abundant blessings upon them and urging continued dedication to societal good.
Earlier at the event, Professor Rufus Sola Fayose of Adekunle Ajasin University delivered a compelling lecture titled “Good Governance: A Path to Development in Nigeria.” He identified good governance as the bedrock of a just, peaceful, and prosperous nation, highlighting key principles such as transparency, accountability, public participation, rule of law, equity, and responsiveness.
Professor Fayose discussed Nigeria’s persistent challenges, including corruption, political instability, and inequality, which continue to hinder progress. While acknowledging some anti-corruption successes, he pointed out that Nigeria’s low Human Development Index and widespread public distrust remain serious concerns.
He called for:
Strengthening institutional oversight
Increasing civic engagement
Investing in human capital
Promoting inclusive growth to reduce regional disparities
In conclusion, he emphasized that sustainable development relies on a collective commitment from leaders, institutions, and citizens to uphold integrity, transparency, and accountability. Only through such shared responsibility can Nigeria overcome its challenges and build a thriving, equitable society.
